💡 Is my D-10 visa eligible for internships?

Not all D-10 visas allow internships. You must check your stay status conditions before starting.

• Holders of General Job Seeking (D-10-1) can intern only in professional (E-1~E-7) fields.

• Simple labor jobs such as cafés or restaurants are generally prohibited. (You need a separate part-time work permit)

• Holders of Technology Startup Preparation (D-10-2) can only start a business.

⏱️ 15-day golden time! Reporting period and allowed duration

For internships, both the company and foreign national must carefully plan the allowed period.

• Officially, you must report within 15 days of the occurrence or workplace change.

• If you miss the reporting period, a fine of up to KRW 1,000,000 may be imposed.

• The total possible stay period has changed from up to 2 years to up to 3 years!

• The previous internship limit—total 1 year, 6 months per company—has been lifted for the total duration.

(But to prevent low-wage labor, a maximum of 1 year is allowed per company.)

📠 How to report by fax without visiting immigration

You can conveniently report by electronic fax (FAX) without visiting the local office.

• Official electronic fax number: 1577-1346 (no area code) / Weekdays 09:00 ~ 18:00

• After reporting, be sure to check the text message regarding approval status.

• If additional documents are requested, submit the required documents quickly.

After reporting, be sure to confirm whether the fax was received through the 1345 Immigration Contact Center! (Remember the number you sent the fax from)

🏢 If visiting in person, Hi Korea reservation is required

If you plan to apply in person at the local immigration office, you must make a reservation in advance.

• Since April 2021, the reservation system is in place at all offices nationwide.

• If you visit without a reservation, you cannot submit your application at all.

• You cannot reserve on the day of your visit; reservations are possible from the day after applying.

You may waste your trip without a Hi Korea reservation, so be careful!
